Jonathan Gornall is a freelance British journalist, formerly with The Times, who has lived and worked in the Middle East and is now based in the UK.
He specialises in the history, heritage, politics and culture of the Middle East, with a particular focus on the six states of the Gulf Cooperation Council – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. He covers a wide range of topics for Arab News, the daily English-language newspaper based in Saudi Arabia, and writes a bi-monthly column for Dubai-based Syndication Bureau. From 2008 to 2012 he was a staff writer with The National in the UAE. During that time he lived in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and travelled to many countries in the region. He now lives in East Anglia in the UK with his wife and daughter.
